The new Al Salam Al Ahmadi Hospital, a subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House (KFH), was officially inaugurated under the patronage of Kuwait's Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi. Located in Mahboula and spanning 5,300 square meters, this facility aims to significantly enhance healthcare services in the region.

The opening ceremony was graced by prominent figures, including the Governor of Al-Ahmadi, His Excellency Sheikh Homoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, KFH Chairman Hamad Abdulmohsen Al Marzouq, KFH Acting Group Chief Executive Officer Abdulwahab Iesa Al Rushood, KFH-Kuwait Chief Executive Officer Khaled Yousef AlShamlan, Al Salam Chairman Fawaz Al Enezi, and Al Salam Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa, along with various officials from both the public and private healthcare sectors.

In his address, Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa emphasized that the hospital's establishment is part of ongoing efforts to elevate healthcare quality in Kuwait. This project is a vital element of a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare for both citizens and residents.

The concept for the hospital originated in 2018, following a comprehensive feasibility study focused on creating an advanced medical facility as part of Al Salam Hospitals' expansion plan. Dr. Al Mutawa pointed out that the opening of Al Salam Al Ahmadi Hospital is a continuation of the legacy established by Al Salam Al Asima Hospital, which began its journey in 1964. The new hospital meets all necessary construction and medical standards, ensuring it is fully prepared to accept patients.

Equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, Al Salam Al Ahmadi Hospital offers a range of services designed to deliver precise and efficient care. The hospital features operating and maternity wards, luxurious patient suites, 98 beds, and 9 operating rooms. Additionally, it includes advanced delivery rooms and support departments such as radiology and laboratory services, along with dedicated pediatric and physiotherapy departments.

Notably, the hospital has established a twinning agreement with the largest physiotherapy center in the Netherlands, further enhancing its capabilities. The dermatology department is equipped with cutting-edge technology to address various skin and body concerns.

The Medical Development Center at Al Salam Al Assima Hospital conducted Heart saver CPR AED course for teachers and administrative staffs of American Bilingual School on 03rd of October 2024 at SASH Abdul Rahman Al Ateeqi auditorium. The course was attended by 10 faculty members and aimed to enhance their skills on providing CPR in case of health emergencies at their workplace.

The Medical Development Center and the Physiotherapy Department at Al Salam Al Assima Hospital hosted a two-day course titled “Vestibular Rehabilitation” on September 26-27, 2024. The course was led by Ms. Amanda Male, an expert in vestibular physiotherapy. Physiotherapists from Al Salam Hospital and various other institutions participated, focusing on understanding the vestibular system and creating rehabilitation plans for common conditions. Attendees received a certificate of attendance along with 10 CME points, significantly contributing to their professional development in the field of physiotherapy.

The Medical Development Center at Al Salam Al Assima Hospital conducted Heart saver First Aid CPR AED course for 20 candidates under the sponsorship of KFH on 16th and 19th September 2024 at SASH Abdul Rahman Al Ateeqi auditorium. The course aimed to enhance their skills in providing First aid and CPR to save lives in emergencies.

Under the patronage of the Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Wahab Al-Awadhi and as part of the celebrations for World Patient Safety Day on September 18, 2024, Al Salam Al Assima Hospital was honored and received the Safety Star Award for 2023 in a ceremony organized by the Quality and Accreditation Department of the Ministry of Health - Kuwait.

The project was titled "Ensuring Patient Safety from the Adverse Effects of Iron Injections (Inj. Ferinject)."

The project included a comprehensive program implemented in the hospital with a focus on patient safety and quality care. The project study was conducted with detailed steps and methods to gather information, facts, and figures, while monitoring processes for improvements and sustainability.

Guidance from all caregivers, especially the clinical pharmacy team, doctors, customer service, and nurses, contributed to the success and consistency of the initiative in daily practice.

Intravenous iron doses were standardized with a scientifically validated protocol. A 30-minute observation period after administering the intravenous solution was established to ensure that patients receiving Inj. Ferinject, who may have adverse reactions to the drug, were assessed while still in the hospital.

An appointment schedule was created for these patients to ensure they were received in dedicated units where nurses were specifically trained to have comprehensive knowledge about this medication.

With the implementation of this protocol, no adverse reactions were reported after the patient left the hospital.

In the event of any complications or adverse drug reactions (ADRs)—which were very few compared to before the project began—these were addressed as needed while the patient remained in the hospital, with the medical staff and clinical pharmacy taking immediate action.

Prof. Anmar Habib, Professor of Urological Surgery at Cairo University, and an expert in laser prostate surgeries, participated via video presentation. He demonstrated the use of this technique, which addressed some deficiencies of traditional methods, offering faster recovery without affecting sexual function.

Al Salam Al Assima Hospital Medical Development center, in coordination with Manipal university, conducted a Nursing leadership training course from April 27th to May 2nd, 2024. The programe was designed for Nursing supervisors, Senior Nurses and Head Nurses.

On November 29 - 30, 2023, the 12th Kuwait Health Conference and Exhibition – Kuwait Medica was held under the patronage of the Minister of Health. Al Salam Al Assima Hospital participated in this conference as a sponsor due to the importance of this conference on a local and regional level due to the hospital administration’s interest in keeping pace with all global medical developments. Al Salam Hospital's Medical Development Center continues to promote public health initiatives through various programs and training courses, empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools to address medical emergencies confidently.

Due to the importance of educating the community about the harms of smoking to smokers and those around them, Al Salam Al Assima Hospital participated in the celebration of World Anti-Smoking Day under the slogan (Damage of smoking and Electronic Smoking), which was organized by the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer in cooperation with the Community Development Center in Sabah Al-Salem.

Al-Salam Hospital participated in the exhibition of the National Anti-Smoking program held in Kuwait University through providing blood pressure, sugar level, weight check-up and also providing instrunction about disadvantages of smoking.

In a competitive atmosphere with an unprecedented turnout of around 900 participants from Kuwait, the GCC, as well as various Arab and foreign countries, the KFH Obstacle Challenge "Baitek" was launched, in its second edition, which extended for a full day on the Marina beach. The event was attended by sports personalities, as well as various Kuwaiti youth projects. Al Salam Hospital participated in this sports event through its emergency medical services for participants who require them.

The Third Kuwait International Physiotherapy Conference was held under the slogan Physiotherapy Challenges and Achievements from 6-8/3/2023 at the Symphony Style Hotel.
The event served as a multidisciplinary platform for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss the latest innovations and trends as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of physiotherapy, rehabilitation and occupational therapy.

Chairman of the Kuwait Private Hospital Federation and CEO of Al Salam International Hospital Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa welcomed the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Kuwait Malik Muhammad Farooq and his accompanying delegation on a special visit to the hospital.

During the visit, they discussed various ways of cooperation between the Kuwait Private Hospital Federation and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the private health sector, one of which is in the process of attracting and recruiting of medical & nursing professionals.

Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa praised the role of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in supporting Kuwait’s healthcare sector during the COVID-19 pandemic especially by sending medical personnel to work alongside Kuwaiti medics to provide the necessary medical care in government hospitals in Kuwait. This great move of solidarity has led to the employment of at least 2,800 medical and nursing staff in Kuwait’s government hospitals, a direction the private health sector is eager to work towards achieving so similar talent can be employed to work at their end.

In addition, His Excellency stressed the important role the Pakistani Embassy would play to ensure that highly skilled medical personnel are recruited through government accredited channels in a smooth seamless way.

On his part, the Chairman of the Kuwait Private Hospital Federation confirmed that such interactions between officials and representatives of friendly countries to the private health sector is a fundamental cornerstone for establishing the rules of cooperation and supporting efforts between the two countries in the field of health care. They represent an important opportunity to learn and identify challenges and opportunities available in this field and agree on venues for future cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa presented His Excellency Malik Muhammad Farooq with a memento to commemorate his visit to the hospital, wishing him continued health and wellness as well as progress and prosperity to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

On the occasion of Nutrition Week, Al Salam International Hospital participated in an awareness lecture on nutrition for the female students of the American Baccalaureate School (ABS) with a presentation by dietician Reem Aqel.

Al Salam Hospital participated in the 22nd Kuwait Ophthalmology Conference, which aims to know comprehensive updates in ophthalmology and help doctors raise their standards in all levels of health care and support access to clinical guidelines and provide necessary information to improve patient care. Salam International Hospital (SIH) has tested the security and safety plan by conduction practical training on evacuation, in case of fire, and the training was carried out under the supervision of a team from the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF).

Al Salam International Hospital Medical Development Center in liaison with the Manipal University of India organized Nursing Quality Assurance course for Nursing Team Leaders, Head Nurses, and Nursing Supervisors from 12th to 17th November 2022 at Al Salam Hospital with the aim to emphasize the importance of quality assurance to ensure accountability and focus on high priority in quality care delivery as well as to enhance their professional competence. The course was conducted by a team of Professors and Associate Professors from Manipal University with more than 20 years of experience in clinical teaching set up. The content addressed in the course was evidence-based and was applicable within the scope of practice to meet the expectation of patients and sustain hospital standards. Various workshops were conducted on real-time scenarios which can develop our staff foreseeing capacity pertaining to quality patient care and maintain degree of excellence. The attendees received a course completion certificate from Manipal University. It was a remarkable experience for our staffs in the continuous professional development to shape their career towards right direction in the field of nursing at Al Salam International Hospital and to apply it in their daily nursing practices.

In line with the WHO Patient Safety Day 2022 Celebrations, Quality and Risk Management Department in Al Salam International Hospital organized a One day Event on 18th September 2022 under the slogan “Medication Without Harm” with the aim to focus attention on making the process of medication safer and free from harm.Educational Sessions were organized and Patient Safety Champions were appreciated for their contribution towards patient safety acts during their work.

Al Salam International Hospital joined the rest of the world during the World Breastfeeding Week by organizing a campaign (Breastfeeding is the basis for a better life) in cooperation with the Ministry of Health on 17/8/2022 and the participation of many medical and health specialties from different centers of the hospital to emphasize the importance of breastfeeding and a commitment to promoting this practice that provides children better beginning of life.World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated annually from 1-7 August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of infants around the world. The celebration commemorates the Innocenti Declaration signed in August 1990 by policy makers, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to encourage and support breastfeeding.

Al Salam Hospital held a training course for First Aid and CPR for the employees of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) On Monday, 20/6/2022, the Medical Development Center at Al Salam Hospital presented the most important medical cases that require first aid and performed hands on training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the attendees.

Al Salam International Hospital Medical Development Center in liaison with the Manipal University of India organized an Advanced Medical-surgical Nursing course for our nurses from 11th to 16th June at Al Salam hospital with the aim to ensure that nurses stay abreast of current practices, enhance their professional competence, and update their clinical skills. The course was conducted by a team of Associate professors of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department, Manipal university with more than 15 years of experience in teaching. The content addressed in the course was need-based and the updates in the nursing practice were applicable within the scope of practice. Various evidence-based practices were emphasized, which can develop our staff foreseeing capacity pertaining to quality patient care. The attendees received a course completion certificate from Manipal university after completing the skill test and the exam.

On Date 22.5.2022, Al Salam International Hospital, in collaboration with the Kuwait Central Blood Bank, has launched a Blood Donation Campaign, "Your donation .. is life". Al Salam International Hospital organized a World Hand Hygiene Day 2022 which was celebrated on the 11th May 2022 conducting various activities.
